Taos Day School celebrated its first day of school for the 2024-25 academic year on Monday, August 12. The local Tribal government came to support students and staff and offer encouragement. Taos Pueblo Governor Fred Romero, Lt. Governor Joe Romero and Taos Pueblo War Chief Carpio Bernal discussed the importance of education.

The Taos Day School Governing Board addressed a crowd of students, parents/guardians, and community members. They spoke about the importance of providing a well-rounded program that includes special programs that align with traditional education and prepare students for future leadership.

Each teacher spoke about their goals for their students in the 2024-25 school year. Principal Haimowitz reminded parents and students of the importance of working with the Tribal Government on joint projects where students will embrace the rich culture and traditions of the Taos Pueblo Community.
